According to a statement by the Foreign Ministry, the students were reportedly taken to Longsight police station in Manchester at 5.40pm local time and later released at 9pm.
It has been revealed that the trio’s home was raided following a suspected link to the Manchester suicide bomber Salman Abedi.
Abedi had reportedly used the same home address in which the Malaysian students were residing.
However, it has been confirmed that the students are innocent and may have been taken advantage of by Abedi to avoid being discovered by the police and counter-terrorism officials.
The three students, two of whom were reportedly medical students at Manchester University and one currently studying at Manchester Metropolitan University, could possibly have interacted at some point when they went to the local mosque within the area.
They have reportedly been living in the same place for the past four years but there has been no further connection between Abedi and the address.
Friends of the three students told a local UK daily that they were strong advocates against Islamic terrorism and extremism. They were also hardworking students with good character.
All three of them have been released without charged by the police.
The Manchester blast occurred at the tail-end of a concert by Ariana Grande on 22 May, which killed 22 people and injured more than 50.
The Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for the bombing. malaysiaway.blogspot.com
